Elegant Courtyard, Tunbridge Wells

Return

This garden in the centre of Tunbridge Wells required an injection of clever design and a revised layout to maximise the space of both the rear and front garden.

In the front garden, privacy and screening was key, we added layers including fencing, hedging, trees & planting to create seclusion.

The entrance to the garden was restored to its original position which increased the functionality of the front garden space and made room for borders with an elegant planting palette - the perfect backdrop for the Palissade green metal bench.

The large format paving that was installed also helped to create an open and spacious feel.

The rear garden is a hidden courtyard including compact seating and a built-in cantilevered Millboard bench, which allows for plenty of space to relax and enjoy this verdant urban garden.

An Aldgate Home mirror was cleverly placed to reflect and add depth to the planting and encourage light to bounce throughout the garden.

The planting is calming, lush and textural. The Acer griseum bark blends beautifully with the warm tones of the materials palette and the Aralia elata adds height and a green canopy above without intruding on the useable space.

We are delighted with the transformation of this garden, demonstrating how much you can elevate a small area.
