Raising the spirits

Our client required a garden design to compliment the house refurbishment, the garden had become overgrown and was no longer under control. The client required a space that “raised the spirits”

The family are keen cooks and have grown fruit and vegetables for most of their lives, the dream garden was a walled kitchen garden, with a frost-free greenhouse, a herringbone brick path. Fruit trees, an arch and a water feature.  A small place to sit with a cup of tea in the shade preferably, but not that large and there were no plans to entertain outside. The clients would not describe themselves as outdoor types.

The clients are very technically and engineering minded. They wanted automated watering systems and a design aesthetic that was simple with clean lines – using traditional materials.
